I bought this skirt at the beginning of the year and I love how many different outfits can be created with it. So here are my outfit ideas and style tips for a midi skirt without looking frumpy!
How do you style a midi skirt casually
I have put together 8 casual outfits to show you how you can style a midi skirt.

Ball Cap and Sneakers

I have this midi skirt paired with a tied graphic tee, sneakers, and  a ball cap. But you can wear this look with a crop top, a graphic tee tucked in, or a tank top. There are several options for what top you can wear with a midi skirt.

Ball Cap and Midi Skirt

Jean Jacket and Wedge Sneakers

This look is so perfect going into fall- a jean jacket and wedged sneakers. Again, for the top under the jean jacket could be a graphic tee or a tank top.

Chambray and Floppy hat

If you know me, you know I swear by a chambray it goes with anything and everything! The floppy hat makes this look also fall ready.

Sweater and booties

Now this look, to avoid looking frumpy, make sure your sweater is tucked in or rolled up with a belt. If you cannot see the waistline of the midi skirt, it will just blend together. I really should have taken a picture of how not to wear your sweater… I also recommend the booties have a heel to make your legs a little longer. If not, it could make your legs look kind of stumpy.

Striped top

This one is daring. Growing up I loved to read seventeen magazine and they always mixed prints. It always looked so good, but I would never actually try it. I finally put together this printed midi skirt and striped top and I love it. I put on a tiny belt as well just to have a break between the prints.

Tank Top and Sneakers

This one is a classic, typically for the spring and summer month. But it is definitely one of the easiest and a super casual way to wear a midi skirt. I layered my tank top with a lace bralette but it would work just as fine without one. And if you do not have basic white sneakers you need to get some!

White Tank Top and Cheetah Skirt

Lace Tank top and block heels

This is a little more of a put together look with the lace tank top and blocked heels, but still casual. I wore it out to the mall. I adore this tank top from amazon. I feel you can wear it with so many outfits as well.

Black lace tank top with long skirt

Graphic tee and belt

This is one of my favorite looks, a graphic tee and a belt. I also added a wide brim fedora to this outfit to make it cute for fall. But without the hat it will be perfect for the spring and summer.

What shoes to wear with a midi skirt

What shoes to wear with a midi skirt is a really common question. As you can see I used a variety of shoes- white sneakers, a block heel, booties, booties with a heel, and wedge sneakers. I think a low heel is great because it is casual but also help elongate your legs so you avoid looking frumpy and stumpy. Lol.

What kind of tops to wear with a long skirt

There are so many options what kind of top you can wear with a midi skirt. In these outfits I Shared I used a graphic tee (tied up or tucked in), a tank top, a sweater, a chambray, a striped top, a jean Jacket, and a lace tank top. You could also use a crop top.

Midi skirt style tips

Some of my best style tips for wearing a midi skirt without looking frumpy are:

  1. Tuck in your top so the waistline is visible (this is my main tip!)
  2. If your midi skirt is a bit to long roll your waistline under once or twice. This helps it hit right under the biggest part of your calf.
  3. Wear a (low) heel to elongate your legs.
  4. Use a belt to define your waist. I used a belt in two of the outfits I share but you can defiantly add a belt to any of them!

I hope this helped give you outfit ideas of how to casually wear your midi skirt. Let me know if you try any of these outfits by tagging me on Instagram! Also leave a comment below of your favorite way to style your midi skirt!
