Outfit Ideas and The Best Color To Wear For Sunflower Field Photos
Recently I came across a Facebook post of someone I know that does photography. They were scheduling mini photoshoot sessions at a sunflower field. A few years back I had looked for sunflower fields to take photos in, but because of current situations most of the sunflower fields around me had not been planted for the year.
When I seen this post I had to jump on it and schedule a photoshoot for my family. So I did, but then comes the next and most important question; What were we going to wear for our sunflower field pictures??

I love putting together outfits for myself but putting together outfits for my whole family to match is even better. So I got to searching online for cute matching dresses. I found some on a few websites but the shipping would not have arrived to us on time or they did not have some of the sizes I needed. So I took to the stores to find outfits for us.
But on to what this post is really about, sunflower field photoshoot outfit ideas. So, I will include the outfits we wore and a few other outfits I put together, that the colors and styles could easily be used to create outfits for your family as well.
1. Sunflower Outfit Ideas 1 – Burnt Orange
This sunflower photoshoot outfit, I think is my favorite, obviously because it is the outfits I went with. I went with a burnt orange color for the girls’ shirts (our shirts are slightly lighter) and we wore white shorts. I think the burnt orange is a great color to not take away from the yellow sunflowers and give more of end of summer-fall feel.
The white shorts keep it light and still summer-y looking. I found these outfits at Target the girls tops, short, my shirt, and my husbands’ shirt. I guess Target is betting this color will be popular this season.
2. Outfits for Sunflower Photoshoot 2 – Green and Black
Here is a Sunflower field picture outfits to really channel the feel of fall. A dark green top with black jeans. I also think a black skirt would look really cute with this. I added a wide brim fedora to add something cute to the outfit. I also added my cross-body purse, but I honestly think I would have liked the outfit better without it.
This outfit just gives me all the fall feels and I know lots of people who are ready for fall so why not bring that to your photoshoot. I think if darker or moodier pictures are your thing you can not go wrong with this outfit. I like how the dark green goes with the sunflower stems. That way you are matching the scenery, but the black makes you stand out without looking bright.
3. Sunflower Field Photoshoot Outfit 3 – Neutral & Natural
For the best color to wear for sunflower field photos number 3 I am going with a neutral/ natural color. An outfit with a neutral top, jeans, and comfy shoes has a farmer girl look. My husband says the tote bag looks like a famer bag. Lol. I think he means it reminds him of going to a farmers’ market.
I think a canvas tote bag would be super super cute if the field you are in allows you to pick some of the flowers. Imagine this picture with a bundle of sunflowers sticking out of this bag. I also think just neutral colors would be easy to match the whole family in and I am sure everyone already owns a pair of jeans and comfy shoes!
4. Sunflower Outfit Idea 4 – A White Dress
I recently included this dress in my last blog post because this dress is nothing short of perfect especially for the summer. So, sticking with how I said white keeps the photos bright. Here you go, look at how bright and airy this outfit makes this photo.
If you are ever doing a photoshoot in the spring or summer, I do not think you can go wrong with wearing all white especially a white dress. It is easy to put together and I added low heels here to dress it up a little and a floppy hat.
5. Sunflower Photoshoot Outfit 5 – Yellow Romper
Last but not least wearing an outfit with the color yellow. I know I said for the first outfit I did not want to take away from the yellow of the sunflowers by wearing yellow. But I think this is a classic look, wearing yellow in a sunflower field.
The outfit that came in second on my hunt for our outfits for a sunflower photoshoot were yellow dresses. I found these cute little yellow dresses for the girls and I almost bought them except I had trouble finding me a yellow dress that matched.
So here I am wearing a yellow romper and some cute, studded sandals (That I do not think you can see. Lol). I think this gives off such a bright summer-y vibe. If bright colors are your thing, I think this is for sure the type of outfit you should go with, something that is a bright yellow!
I hope I could help you decided on a color scheme or your next sunflower field picture outfits. Or if you were just trying to decide if you should take photos in a sunflower field, I hope this helped you decide that you should! The color scheme ideas I have shared could for sure be carried to whole family outfits. As I showed you with outfit one you can also work with different shades of the same color.
